Blog Journal #3
This week in class we focused on copyright and fair use. Copyright is protection for one's own creative property. Those planning to use copyrighted work but proficiently give credit the creator. This attribution can even be a form of payment to the owner. Fair use allows one to use copyrighted material without having to gain permission from the owner first. This is only applicable for nonprofit educational purposes. Intellectual property laws should be made aware to all k-12 students. I will make sure to keep this in mind when in the classroom. When developing my own instructional materials I'll make the effort to give proper attribution.
Implementing technology in education is not as easy as it seems. There are many factors that determine whether technology is a good option. Teachers must have the skills and knowledge along with access to equipment. One of the main technology implementation issues in school is the lack of funding. In regards to lack of funding, a solution would be providing them with the resources to get a library card. That way, if my classroom does not have school issued desktops, students could go to the library to complete online work. Having access to technology in the classroom in forms of desktops or tablets may also decrease productivity. Many would visit noneducational sites. To combat this I would use companies like GoGuardian to track what sites my students are accessing.
Bellow is my newsletter. I'm super happy with how it turned out! Through the process of making this newsletter I learned how to manipulate the columns function. I never knew you could change the widths of the columns. Also, while making the spelling list, I learned how to change the size of each box in the table, as well as making the table lines invisible. I definitely could become faster at designing things in Microsoft Word as this newsletter took me a good amount of time. I'll for sure use these newfound skills when I make my own newsletters as an elementary teacher. I had never even heard of newsletters for classes before so this was a very exciting experience for me!

I'm absolutely in LOVE with your newsletter! You killed it for sure and I am loving the theme. I agree with you that creating it was quite the process, but a fun one for sure. Thanks for sharing !
