Blog Journal #4

As the world is expanding technologically, so are the ELA technology standards for K-12 education. Classrooms are more consistently using technology as a form of communication and learning. As this become more common, standards are evolving to focus on technology in the classroom. The standard I chose is for grade 11: ELA.11.C.5.1. This standard wants students to create digital presentation to improve the "experience of the audience". To me, this means a student should be able to make and present a digital slideshow that engages the audience. I believe with my Google Slides experience I would be able to implement this standard and provide my own knowledge to help my students. My current skill set is average to above average.

The CPALMS website is incredibly helpful for not only teachers but students and parents as well. It's super easy to navigate between different grade levels and specific standards on the site. It also provides teachers with in depth plans to help all teachers in the classroom. As a new teacher, I'll definitely use the lesson plan feature to help format my everyday teaching.

Internet searching is something we all do everyday. It's extremely important for teaching to have the necessary skills to proficiently conduct internet searches because they'll always need to fact check themselves as well as stay up to date on the everchanging technology world. Out of the new searching skills I was introduced this week, the Google Advanced Search will most likely be the one I use the most. I think it is super helpful in narrowing down the results to find what I am looking for.
