Blog Journal #8

The web design assignment has been my favorite thing I've created in this class. I loved having full creative liberty to make something both useful and intricate. Some major design principles I used in this assignment was balance, contrast, and unity. For balance, on my home page, I tried to keep everything balanced in terms of text to images. I made sure to utilize contrast in the hyperlink buttons to add depth to my page. As for unity, all of my sub-pages look the same in terms of headings, fonts, and colors. I definitely want to use my jungle theme and the skills I learned in my future career. Here's my website!

With Diigo, I have learned how to bookmark sites and make noted on points I find particularly interesting. I know this can be useful in my classroom because I can direct people to specific things I'd like to touch on. With team members in particular, bookmarking and adding sticky notes to sources would be very helpful. I am still getting used to Diigo, but I believe it will become very useful very soon.

As a future educator, I know I will need to keep up to date on the latest technology trends. Staying aware of changed in the technology world can only improve my teaching and abilities. To do this, a blog I found called "The Innovative Educator", is a great resource. There is a specific section for anything "hot" in tech for teachers. I can imagine myself checking this blog to stay educated.

  1. Hi Jessa!

I LOVED your website design! The Jungle Book theme is so creative and fun (plus I adore alliteration). The green color theme remains consistent throughout the website and it truly feels as if I am immersed in a jungle. Your font remains consistent and is repeated throughout each page. The rotation between the dark and light greens is the perfect balance of contrast and consistency. Great work!

  2. Hello Jessa!
Your website was so cute, I love the jungle book! You were very creative with everything and it was super cute. The contrast was very appealing since the colors you picked were really pretty and it all flowed together really well. The arrangement was pretty satisfying and everything was arranged nicely. Your website was really consistent with everything from the jungle book and everything green. For proximity everything was well-spaced and not all over the place. I really enjoyed your website!

  4. Hey Jessa,
The overall design of your website is very impressive! I appreciated the contrast between the light green and the dark images is great. The alignment of everything is great as well as it minimizes the empty white space, and feels very well organized.
